In the heart of my career and life journey, a fierce passion was ignited – a desire to uplift, empower, and inspire. This deep-seated longing paved the way for the birth of The STAR Women’s Empowerment Initiatives, Nigeria. It isn’t just an initiative but a response to a calling that resonated deeply within me.
As I travelled the streets of Lagos, Port Harcourt and Owerri during my visit to Nigeria in 2022, a sense of purpose enveloped me. It was as if every footstep echoed the struggles, dreams, and aspirations of the women and girls I encountered. Their tenacity amidst challenges and their unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on my heart. It became unmistakably clear that despite their abilities and resilience, they faced immense hardships and a lack of opportunities. And in that moment, I knew I couldn’t stand idly by.
The stories I heard and the struggles I witnessed weren’t just distant narratives. They were the stories of my sisters and fellow Nigerian women, and they resonated with me. The desire to make a change, to empower these women and girls to rise beyond circumstances, became a fire that burned brighter with each passing day.
I have always been drawn to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 1: No Poverty, Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 5: Gender Equality (little wonder, I founded Network for the Empowerment of Women in 2018, now The STAR Women’s Network Inc, Canada). These goals weren’t just distant ideals; they were the foundation of my mission. They represented the change I yearned to see, the transformation I knew was possible.
But this journey carries a tall mandate. It’s an audacious goal, a commitment that sets the path for the next decade. Embarking on this journey, my mission is to empower and uplift 1 million women and girls by 2033. It’s a journey that requires collective effort and a shared commitment to rewrite narratives and create a ripple effect of change.
I must confess that the path wasn’t always clear. Doubts crept in, and challenges loomed. However, the unwavering belief that every woman and girl possess a reservoir of untapped potential pushed me forward. I was determined to create a platform, a haven, where they could tap into that potential, shatter glass ceilings, and change not only their lives but also the lives of their families.
As a Nigerian in the diaspora, my roots run deep, connecting me to the vibrant spirit of Africa. It’s a connection that fuels my desire to give back and make a difference in the country and continent that raised, nurtured, and made me who I am today.
The STAR Women’s Empowerment Initiatives, Nigeria, isn’t just a journey for me; it’s a calling, a purpose. It’s a tribute to the strength of Nigerian women, a celebration of their achievements, and a relentless pursuit of gender equity. With each step we take, we’re rewriting narratives, breaking barriers, and illuminating a path of empowerment.
“Join me in this transformational journey. Let’s stand united, shoulder to shoulder, as we empower women and girls to not only dream but to achieve, to not only exist but to thrive. Together, we’re turning passion into purpose, and every stride we take is a step toward a brighter, more empowered future.
With unwavering commitment”

Simultaneously, we are dedicated to addressing the interconnected challenges posed by Goals 1 to 4, as we recognize the integral relationship between eradicating poverty (Goal 1), eliminating hunger (Goal 2), ensuring quality education (Goal 4), and fostering good health and well-being (Goal 3) for women and girls in Nigeria.
By advancing gender equality, we envision a future where women and girls can break free from the cycle of poverty, access quality education and healthcare, overcome barriers, and lead with empowerment, fostering a holistic transformation for individuals, communities, and the nation.
